The Parish Council was successful in a grant bid to WREN for £30,000 for a new roof to the Swimming Pool and Hall. The building now looks fantastic in the new colours of white and aqua.! ! WREN distributes the landfill communities funds of Waste Recycling Group to worthwhile community projects located within 10 miles of an active landfill site.
Parish Chairman Councillor Linda Dirir said:
“We are very pleased that we have been able to access this funding from Wren; the new roof would not have been possible without it. The massive Arpley Landfill Site is actually in Penketh and it has a negative impact on the community …HGVS, odours etc. It is good therefore for us to receive something positive from Landfill tax…”
